Wednesday Lemonade

Every Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., staff host an informal gathering for Fellows at the VCCA Office. During warm seasons, we’ll gather on the front porch over lemonade. In the case of inclement weather, we’ll move inside. And cold months bring Wednesday Cider! This weekly get-together is an opportunity to meet VCCA staff and fellow Fellows. Participation is optional.

Informal Gatherings Among VCCA Fellows

Fellows often wish to share recent work with one another by offering performances, readings, or open studios. These informal gatherings are scheduled individually and are a source of great pleasure for many. Attendance/participation at any of these gatherings is strictly voluntary.

Readings may be given in any of the common rooms in the Fellows Residence.

For visual presentations, a projection screen is available above the sliding glass door behind the piano in the living room of the Fellows Residence. An LCD projector may be checked out from the VCCA Office Manager.

Please be considerate of everyone’s time, and follow these guidelines:

• Keep each presentation under 20 minutes, including questions. Set a timer if necessary.
• Please do not present your work more than once during your residency.
• There should be no more than two or three presentations per week.
• Remember to ask participants for their permission before taking photos or videos.
• After presentations and performances, please help the facilities and housekeeping staff by resetting the rooms to their original configurations.

Public Events

Open Studios

VCCA holds an Open Studio day for the public twice a year — once in the spring and once in the fall. Fellows in residence at that time will receive an email invitation to open their VCCA studio for the event; if you wish to participate, please submit the provided form by the required deadline to ensure your inclusion in VCCA’s promotional and informational materials for the event. These events typically take place on Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. with light refreshments provided and visitors encouraged to explore the grounds. Visitors enjoy speaking to participating Fellows from all genres about their work and process.

VCCA Connects

Several times throughout the year, VCCA partners with local community spaces to host this traveling pop-up event series. Fellows who will be in residence during one of these events will receive an email invitation to propose a short presentation. If you wish to be considered as a presenter, please submit the provided form by the required deadline.

Volunteer Days

VCCA hosts Volunteer Day twice a year — once in the spring and once in the fall. Fellows in residence at that time are welcome to join staff and community members in a Saturday morning of light yard work and gardening on the grounds. Coffee and water are provided.
